For the project, a dream like room for plants is created using red and blue LED lights. For the plants, the sun is the most important thing for survival. However the LED lights function better than natural light. Because the artificial lights give them the exact wavelength they need. They can grow more efficiently.
Thomas More (1478-1535, England) wrote in his book, "Utopia", that "Utopia" does not exist, it is a fiction that we will never find. For this project I prepared a dark room lit by only red and blue light. No plants were harmed in the making of this work. Wild plants growing in Sofia were used for the project which allow the viewer to compare the difference between nature and art.
傘の下 2012 ソフィアで自生している草 土 水 LEDライト展覧会場であるブルガリアのソフィアで自生している草を採取する。採取した草に１０日間に渡って植物を効率良く生長させることの出来るライトを２４時間当て続け、１０日後元あった場所に戻す。作品の目的は、野生の草と人工光を休みなく当て続けた草との生長度合いを比べることである。
植物が吸収できる波長を持つ高輝度の赤と青のLEDライトを使い、人工的に野生から採取した草を急成長させる本プロジェクトは、衛生的な環境で植物を効率よく育てる植物工場からヒントを得て作られた。
